Hugh Laurie: Uses painkillers to get into role
Hugh Laurie, the British actor admitted that he has taken strong painkillers to perform his role.
Hugh Laurie, who plays Dr. Gregory House, a Vicodin addict in hit US TV show House, claims that he tried the drug so he could understand his character better.
Hugh, the 48 year lold star said, "I wouldn't recommend it - we have to be careful. But then again if you're not in pain it gives a floaty, pleasurable feeling".
The star, who is wellknown for being a perfectionist, admits he can't bear to watch House because his American accent sounds "retarded".
Hugh Laurie said to Britain's Radio Times magazine, "I don't watch regularly. I avert my eyes when my children have it on. I hate seeing myself, but it's even worse hearing my American accent. I had no idea I sound so retarded, a dull monotone, full of clunking mistakes. I'm hugely surprised House survives. The odds are against you in this competitive business - wolves snap at your heels. It's hard to say if I'm pleased with the show".
Hugh also hit back at claims he has "sold out" by leaving the UK to pursue a career in the US.
Hugh Laurie said, "There's a notion that I've sold out. Sold out what exactly?
There's a peculiar British attitude that I took an oath I wouldn't be successful, and reneged on it". |
