Kevin Costner: Signs up for new drama series on 'History'
Big actor Kevin Costner has signed up to star in a new drama on History.
This new series, named 'The Hatfields and McCoys', will focus on the legendary families who had an intense rivalry, almost leading to a war between their two states West Virginia and Kentucky.
During the Civil War, Devil Anse Hatfield and Randall McCoy were friends, however, their relationship deteriorated when they returned home.
This new drama will also features a love affair between Hatfield's son and McCoy's daughter, the execution of three of the McCoy sons, murders, arson, a clash between the two states' governors and the involvement of the Supreme Court.
Costner will take on the role of Devil Anse Hatfield in the ten-part drama, announced History.
"Everyone knows the legend of the Hatfields-McCoy feud, but few know the true story of what occurred to make the two families become mortal enemies," Costner said. "As an avid history fan, I am thrilled to join with [executive producer] Leslie Greif and History in this dramatic re-telling of a classic and timeless tale that is forever immersed in the folklore of our country."
History sparked controversy earlier this year when it announced that it would no longer be airing its miniseries The Kennedys, which starred Katie Holmes and Greg Kinnear. The show was eventually broadcast on Reelzchannel.
On History, 'The Hatfields and McCoys' is expected to air next year.
