Angelina Jolie: Might be dropped out of 'Wanted' sequel
The character of Angelina Jolie is "not crucial" to a possible sequel to the action thriller Wanted.
As the director Timur Bekmambetov has hinted, there could be a follow-up to the 2008 film about a fed-up office worker who discovers he has inherited his father's assassin skills.
While speaking to MTV, he said: "The reality is we love [Jolie] and we'd love to do it with her, but also that story has such a big idea behind it that it can also go on without her."
The director added that there had been discussion about making the second film because the idea remained "very interesting".
Currently, Bekmambetov is working on the adaptation of the mashup novel Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter, which stars Benjamin Walker in the titular role. Rufus Sewell and Dominic Cooper also feature in the film.
Last year, Jolie admitted that, one of the chief attractions of the role was acting alongside James McAvoy.
