Michael Jackson: Neverland Ranch set for auction
Michael Jackson's Neverland Ranch is set to be sold at auction on March 19 unless the pop star pays the more than $24 million he still owes on the property.
The auction will include everything on the property which means the new owner will take possession of any games, amusement rides, furniture and personal property that may be inside the house.
It has been more than two years since Michael Jackson stepped foot on the Neverland property, a site that once featured zoo animals, amusement park rides, and the screams of little kids.
The notice of trustee's sale with Santa Barbara County Superior Court filed by Financial Title Co.
Julie Wagner, a manager at the San Francisco-based title company, confirmed that Michael Jackson's property was set for auction.
The initial asking price could be higher than the $24.5 million if the property goes to auction. According to the filing, everything from the estate's merry-go-round and other carnival rides, locomotives, sculptures to the curtains and bath tubs in the estate would be up for sale should the auction take place.
At this point, Michael Jackson may just let the auction proceed. He hasn't been at Neverland since June 30, 2005, when he departed for Bahrain. No one lives there, the animals in the zoo are all gone, the rides are either sold or shut down. |
