Madonna: Malawi charity not to be investigated
It has been insisted by a rep for Madonna that, her Raising Malawi charity will not be subject to investigation by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) or the Internal Revenue Service (IRS).
Recently, the singer fired several of the organisations directors after it was discovered that they had squandered more than £2.4 million ($3.8m). It was later suggested that she was considering taking legal action over the matter.
Madonna's spokesperson has since told PopEater that Raising Malawi will continue to undergo a "series of positive changes" and will not face inquiries over its mismanagement of funds.
"In recent days a number of wild and totally false rumours about Madonna's philanthropy - spread by bloggers and tabloids - have begun appearing on the internet," the rep explained. "As we have said previously, Raising Malawi is currently undergoing a series of positive changes in an effort to serve more children.
"Neither Madonna nor Raising Malawi is being investigated by the FBI or the IRS. It is unfortunate that people have chosen to say things about Raising Malawi and Madonna that are not true. Madonna remains committed and focused on what matters - helping the children of Malawi."
The 'Queen of Pop' announced plans in January to restructure the charity in the upcoming year in order to operate on a larger scale in the African country.
