Spice Girls: May perform at Mandela's 90th birthday
The Spice Girls may perform at Nelson Mandela's 90th birthday this Summer.
The former South African President wishes for the Spice Girls to perform one last time at the milestone event at London's Hyde Park in June.
Organisers of the legendary humanitarian's summer birthday celebration want the girls to headline the event.
A source said: "Nelson is desperate for them to perform one last time and he is confident it will happen. He first met the Spice Girls in 1997 and called them his 'heroes', so he has deep admiration for them."
Nelson asked Spice Girls to perform last year at his 89th birthday, but they were unable to as Emma Bunton was heavily pregnant with son Beau at the time.
Other bands who have already agreed to play the concert include Bono, Jay-Z, Annie Lennox, The Rolling Stones and Rihanna.
Supermodel Naomi Campbell is helping to organise the event and it is rumoured Robbie Williams will join Queen on stage in place of the late Freddie Mercury. |
