 Bai Ling: Caught stealing magazine
Bai Ling, who is Chinese-born has been arrested for shoplifting at Los Angeles International Airport. The shop employee accused her of stealing two magazines and a pack of batteries, police said on Thursday.
The actress allegedly walked into a terminal gift shop at around 4:30 p.m. and took two celebrity magazines and a pack of batteries, before casually leaving the store without paying for her goods, worth just $16.
Bai Ling, who has appeared in such films as "The Crow" and "Red Corner," was taken into custody on Wednesday afternoon.
Bai Ling is best known for her various film roles in both Chinese and American films that include "The Crow," "Anna and the King," "Shaolin Soccer," "Three ... Extremes," "Lords of Dogtown" and "Soutland Tales." On the small screen, her outrageous personality was displayed on the celebrity talent show "But Can They Sing?" and last season, she appeared on ABC's "Lost" in flashbacks.
Los Angeles Airport Police spokesman Jim Holcomb said, "Bai Ling was pointed out by somebody in the store has having shoplifted, She went to another gate and they basically confronted her and that was it".
Holcomb said the 37-year-old actress, Bai Ling was cooperative and admitted to police officers that she hadn't paid for the merchandise.
The day of her arrest, Bai Ling posted a message on her blog with a photo of herself at the airport waiting for a delayed flight. She made no mention of her arrest.
Bai Ling was born in Chengdu, China and appeared in Chinese films before moving to the United States in the 1990s and landing her first major Hollywood film role in "The Crow."
She has since starred opposite film star Richard Gere in "Red Corner" in 1997 and on the TV series "Lost." |
