 'Harry Potter': Film series to receive BAFTA honor
It has been announced that, the Harry Potter series will receive the 'Outstanding British Contribution to Cinema' honour at the BAFTA Film Awards.
The popular series, which draws to a conclusion in July with the release of Deathly Hallows: Part Two, has become a box office phenomenon over its decade in cinemas.
Creator J.K. Rowling and producer David Heyman will collect the award at the ceremony in London.
The films have so far collected 28 BAFTA nominations among countless other awards, including two recent Oscar nominations. Credited with defining "a decade of British filmmaking", the award will honour the "exciting new performers" and "wealth of British stage and screen acting talent" who have appeared in the franchise.
The 2011 Orange British Academy Film Awards will take place on Sunday, February 13 at London's Royal Opera House.
