Fergie: Fragrance "was just a sign"
'Black Eyed Peas' singer Fergie has revealed that she saw it as a "sign" when Avon approached her to create a perfume, as her grandmother used to sell its products.
The performer said that, she felt happy to work for the company as she has fond memories of the brand.
As Fergie explains to Billboard: "They approached me, and what girl doesn't want to have a fragrance? What was interesting to me was that my grandma was an Avon lady.
"My mum used to help her package all the Avon stuff and have these little parties, so for me it was just a sign. I also love all the work they do with breast cancer and cancer survivors."
The American singer also admitted that it took two years to create a scent that she was happy with.
The rapper, fashion designer and actress added: "We worked on the fragrance for two years. They asked me for my favourite smells from childhood.
"Besides my mum's lasagne, one of the things I thought of was my old rock 'n' roll leather jacket - I love the smell of that, and it matched my personality as well. So now there's a hint of leather in 'Outspoken'. I toughened it up a little bit."
