Eddie Murphy: Marriage over in just two weeks
Comic actor Eddie Murphy and his new wife Tracey Edmonds have split up just two weeks after their romantic wedding in French Polynesia, as reported.
The star of "Shrek" and "Dreamgirls" and Edmonds, a film producer, exchanged their vows on a private island off Bora Bora on Jan. 1. Under U.S. law, the couple needed a ceremony on U.S. soil to make the marriage legal.
"After much consideration and discussion, we have jointly decided that we will forego having a legal ceremony as it is not necessary to define our relationship further," Eddie Murphy and Edmonds said.
"While the recent symbolic union in Bora Bora was representative of our deep love, friendship and respect that we have for one another on a spiritual level, we have decided to remain friends." Edmonds and Eddie Murphy exchanged vows in a ceremony on a private island near Bora Bora on New Year's Day in front of around 25 family and friends. But, according to a source, the honeymoon got off to a rocky start.
"Eddie started yelling at Tracey in front of people," says one of Edmonds's wedding guests. "He did it on a few occasions and it was very embarrassing."
Eddie Murphy and Edmonds, who have been dating since 2006, have both been married before -- Murphy divorced Nicole Mitchell in April 2006, while Edmonds ended her marriage to music mogul Kenneth "Babyface" Edmonds in October 2005. |
