 Brandon Routh: No longer Superman
'Superman Returns' star Brandon Routh has been dropped from the movie franchise's sequel- along with director Bryan Singer, according to reports.
Movie maker Bryan Singer is "too busy" working on other projects to commit to the sixth movie in the superhero franchise, as reported. It was reported Bryan Singer wanted the character all for himself, but the studio didn't budge on its demand that he be included in the upcoming ultra-superhero pic.
The first movie didn't do spectacularly well at the box office, so it wasn't always a no-brainer that they would be making a sequel to begin with. Now, with all of these hurdles, it's possible that Warner Bros. might just give the whole thing a pass, favoring instead the Justice League film that's all the rage these days.
A younger Superman will appear in Superman: Man of Steel - effectively replacing 28-year-old Routh--as the story focuses on the superhero's relationship with fellow DC Comics characters The Justice League. NBC's "Friday Night Lights" famed Scott Porter is Warner Bros.' new Superman.
The hot news off the presses is that whoever plays Superman in JLA will be the actor that plays him in the next Superman movie.
It looks like Warner Bros. will basically be starting from scratch with its planned Superman sequel. In late October it was announced that Michael Dougherty and Dan Harris, the writers for the original, would not be returning for the sequel. Now we know we're not getting the director or even the same Superman. |
