Larry King: To wrap up nightly CNN show after 25 years
Popular television personality Larry King is heading into semi-retirement.
In a statement, on Tuesday, the 76-year-old confirmed that, after 25 years, his program Larry King Live will wrap up sometime this fall.
Citing a desire to spend more time with his family, King said "I'm looking forward to the future and what my next chapter will bring, but for now it's time to hang up my nightly suspenders."
However, Larry King will still appear on the network in occasional specials.
"Larry King defined the art of the television interview," CNN said in a statement. "Having conducted nearly 50,000 interviews over 50-plus years in broadcasting, Larry deserves to take some time for himself and his family."
The veteran journalist and his seventh wife Shawn, 50, have two sons. After rumors of infidelity on both sides, they called off divorce plans last month. "We love our children, we love each other, we love being a family," they told E! in a statement.
