Eminem: Eminem's Mom plans to 'tell-all' about son
Eminem's mother Debbie says her son Marshall Mathers III invented his "trailer trash" upbringing to be accepted in the hip-hop industry. She plans to drop a tell-all book about her son's past life in the New Year, according to reports.
My Son Marshall, My Son Eminem, alleges that the Detroit-bred rap star was in fact a timid mama’s boy, who kept his mom from sleeping with her new husband on their wedding night out of jealousy. It also claims Eminem, 35, physically abused his mom when he was 23. And as if it couldn’t get crazier, Nelson went on to devalue Eminem’s street cred.
"After his first album, Infinite, flopped, he reinvented himself as white trailer trash with a crazy welfare mom. I was shocked when I first heard his lyrics... but he constantly reassured me it was all a big joke... I went along with it for Marshall's sake." She also says Eminem is a manic depressive and was so "strung out" he can't remember much of 1999 - the year he first married his childhood sweetheart Kim.
Debbie Nelson is no stranger to hip hop. Eminem acquainted listeners with his relationship with Nelson in his music for years, with portraits of her being a drug-abusing, unfit parent.
In 2000, Nelson fired back with her own rap, an open letter, called "Set The Record Straight” released through New Media Entertainment in Nashville, telling her side of the Eminem saga. “I’m so excited by your success / yet so let down by your betrayal,” she said over brooding bass and a tinkering piano beat.
Eminem's representative is yet to comment on Nelson's claims. In 1999, Nelson sought $10 million from her son in a defamation suit but only received $1,600.
Nelson was protrayed by Kim Basinger in the 2002 Oscar winning flick, 8 Mile. |
