Gerard Butler: Decides to star in Shakespeare's 'Coriolanus'
After the surprise hit 'Law Abiding Citizen,' Gerard Butler has decided to join Ralph Fiennes in an adaptation of Shakespeare's tragedy 'Coriolanus.'
The play follows the exploits of a prideful Roman war hero - played by Fiennes, who turns against his own people with the aid of his former foe - Tullus Aufidius (commander of the Volscian army), to be played by Butler.
Butler joins a cast that includes William Hurt, Eddie Marsan , Jessica Chastain and Vanessa Redgrave . Shooting begins in Serbia in March.
The project that marks Fiennes' directing debut, will update the 1608 play into a contemporary setting, though the original language will remain more or less intact.
The violent vengeance drama 'Law Abiding Citizen,' co-starring Jamie Foxx, has earned about $52 million after three weekends.
