Sean Penn: Heads to Cuba to interview Fidel Castro

Hollywood's Oscar-winning actor and political activist Sean Penn flew to Cuba as a journalist to take an interview with Cuban leader Fidel Castro, entertainment news website TMZ reported on Sunday.

TMZ reported, "Sean is going to the land of Fidel as a journalist, writing a story for Vanity Fair about how the Obama administration has affected Cuba".

The 49 year old Penn left for Havana on Saturday along with entrepreneur and philanthropist Diana Jenkins on board of her private jet.

Since taking oath in January, US President Barack Obama has took some steps to ease a half-century of tension with Cuba, such as relaxing rules on visits and money transfers to the island.

In July, US and Cuba officially restarted a dialogue on migration issues which had been suspended since 2003.

Regarding the reestablishing of cordial relations between two country, Obama said, "We are making efforts, but if they do not make efforts, it will be very difficult for us to continue".
