Robbie Williams: Gets selected for Brit Award
Robbie Williams has been selected for the "outstanding contribution to music" prize at the Brit Awards 2010.
The thity five year old pop star has won 11 Brits which is more than any other solo singer.
Robbie recently made a comeback, playing his first UK concert for three years as part of the BBC Electric Proms on Wednesday and appearing on the X Factor last weekend.
Williams' first Brit was for his single, 'Could It Be Magic', in 1993. He was a member of Take That when he won the award.
The singer quit the group in 1995 to carve out a successful solo career with hit singles such as 'Angels', 'She's The One' and 'Rock DJ'.
The best British male prize went to Robbie four times.
While praising Robbie, Ged Doherty of the Brits committee said: " He is one of the outstanding artists and performers of his generation."
It will be "an absolute thrill" to have Williams at the 30th anniversary of the Brit award show, he added.
Paul McCartney, The Pet Shop Boys, Oasis and The Who are among the previous recipients of this outstanding achievement award.
