John Lasseter: To receive Producers Guild honor
Animation pioneer John Lasseter will be honored by the Producers Guild of America. He will receive the David O. Selznick Achievement Award at the 21st Annual Producers Guild of America Awards ceremony on January 24, 2010.
The 52 year old Lasseter, who holds the post of chief creative officer at Walt Disney and Pixar Animation Studios, won an Academy Award for the short film "Tin Toy" in 1989. He is the first producer of animated films to be awarded the Selznick.
The Producers Guild said that Lasseter's work with Pixar Animation and parent company Disney has raised the bar for animated and live-action filmmakers alike.
Past recipients include Robert Evans, Roger Corman, Jerry Bruckheimer, Clint Eastwood, Stanley Kramer and Billy Wilder.
John Lasseter directed "Toy Story", "A Bug's Life", "Toy Story 2", "Cars" and served as executive producer of "Monsters, Inc.", "Finding Nemo", "The Incredibles", "Ratatouille", "WALL-E", "Bolt" and "Up".
