Adam Shankman: To co-produce Oscar telecast
"Hairspray" director Adam Shankman will be the busiest man in Hollywood in near future.
The 44 year old Adam Shankman will produce the 82nd Academy Awards live telecast in March along with movie executive Bill Mechanic.
On Tuesday, organizers said that they hope both the celebrities will inject more fun in the show.
Shankman is about to be the third permanent judge on "So You Think You Can Dance". He will also direct and choreograph the film adaptation of the Tony-award nominated Broadway play, "Rock of Ages". Warner Brothers will begin production on "Rock of Ages" next summer.
Shankman said, "The last time I was on the (Oscar) show was as a dancer, and to come back as a producer is such an unbelievable honor".
Mechanic said, "I think Adam has the perfect background and spirit to make the show both unique and fun to watch. Together, we will build upon the best traditions from the great shows of the past while helping pave the way to the future".
The 82nd Academy Awards ceremony will take place at the Kodak Theatre in Hollywood on March 7, 2010 and will be aired in the United States by ABC television. But, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences did not say who would host the ceremony.
