Pamela Anderson: Signs up for pantomime debut
Pamela Anderson will spend this Christmas in Britain, doing panto, for two weeks.
Like many other celebrities such as Sir Ian McKellen, Gareth Gates and Henry Winkler , who jump at the chance to dress up and embrace the holiday spirit, Anderson has grabbed the opportunity this time!
The former Baywatch star will be making her pantomime debut as the Genie in a UK production of Aladdin this December.
The forty two-year-old star swap her famous red bathing suit for a less revealing outfit when she joins Brian Blessed , seventy two, who will star as panto villain Abanazar, in the production at the 1,500-capacity New Wimbledon Theatre in south London.
Show producer Kevin Wood, from First Family Entertainment, said: "This is a major coup for us and a very exciting casting."
"We have been bringing American artists over to the UK for the past five years and she has been on our list for a while."
He also added: "She'll be bringing her family to London for Christmas and will arrive the week before her first performance to learn her lines.
"She will be very busy as there are two shows a day including on Christmas Eve and Boxing Day, but she will have Christmas Day off.
"Her lines haven't been written yet but they will be tailored to her."
Wood refused to confirm how much the former Playboy model is being paid, but other Hollywood stars including Ewan McGregor and Jude Law have been paid the Equity flat rate of just £375-a-day when performing in theatre.
The show will run from December 4 to January 10 and Anderson will appear from December 13 to 27.
She will share the role of the Genie with chat show host Paul O'Grady, fifty four, who will take over from her, and two other celebrities who have not yet been cast.
