Gary Ross: Takes up 'Venom' for writing and direction
Gary Ross , the current screenwriter of 'Spider-Man 4, is writing the 'Spider-Man' spin-off 'Venom' as a potential directing vehicle.
Reportedly, Ross has been hired by Columbia Pictures to take a crack at Peter Parker's alien-born nemesis.
The project is based on one of the popular Marvel Comics villain from 'Spider-Man 3.'
Reports suggest that Ross will also write a new draft of the screenplay after completing 'Spider-Man 4.' 'Zombieland' scribes Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese had written the previous draft.
In the comics, Venom is a gooey alien parasite that bonds with Peter Parker and later his newsroom rival, among other people, becoming one of the more popular villains in "Spider-Man's" rogues' gallery.
Apparently, Topher Grace , who played the vengeful Eddie Brock in the 2007 movie, isn't likely to return for 'Venom.' According to a famous magazine, we could see an entirely new Venom personaa.
The studio had no words on Ross writing the project nor Grace's involvement.
Ross' screenwriting credits include 'Big,' 'The Tale of Despereaux' and 'Pleasantville,' which he also directed. |
