Elizabeth Taylor: To undergo heart surgery
Hollywood actress Elizabeth Taylor said on Tuesday that she is to be admitted to hospital to undergo a procedure to repair a leaking heart valve.
The legendary actress was diagnosed with congestive heart failure five years ago. She said her followers on Twitter that the surgery involves a new procedure using a "clip device, without open heart surgery, so that my heart will function better". But, she did not say when or where she is having treatment.
The 77 year old Taylor wrote, "Any prayers you happen to have lying around I would dearly appreciate. I'll let you know when it's all over before it gets in the papers".
Taylor, who is wheelchair-bound, rarely makes public appearances. She was seen twice last month. She managed to attend the pop icon Michael Jackson's private burial and an AIDS charity event she helped establish decades ago.
