Zombies kill rivals to capture US box office
Zombies helped Ruben Fleischer's new horror comedy "Zombieland" to capture number one position at the US box office this weekend.
The horror comedy, starring Woody Harrelson, Jesse Eisenberg and Emma Stone, has earned $25 million to claim number one. Ruben Fleischer is the director of the movie.
Family animation "Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs" slipped to second place with $16.7 million. The 3-D animated comedy has earned $82.4 million in three weeks.
"Toy Story" and "Toy Story 2", a 3D re-release, opened at three with $12.5 million, ahead of the release of "Toy Story 3" in 3D next June.
Ricky Gervais' comedy "The Invention of Lying" came in fourth place with $7.35 million.
"Surrogates", a sci-fi thriller starring Bruce Willis, dropped to fifth place from second with $7.34 million.
"Whip It", from Fox Searchlight Pictures, debuted at six with $4.85 million.
Michael Moore's "Capitalism: A Love Story" took seventh place with $4.85 million.
