Mackenzie Phillips: Claims to having sex with father
American actress and singer Mackenzie Phillips, who is best known for her roles in "American Graffiti" and "One Day at a Time", revealed a shocking news on Wednesday. Mackenzie told that she had a decade-long sexual relationship with her father, pop superstar John Phillips. She also said that her father taught her how to roll joints and injected her with cocaine.
The 49 year old actress has wrote about her sexual relationship in her memoir, "High on Arrival". She alleges that she was raped by her father on the night before her wedding to Jeff Sessler while she was unconscious at age 19. Both of them were under the influence of drugs at the time.
Mackenzie wrote, "I woke up that night from a blackout to find myself having sex with my own father".
On Wednesday at "The Oprah Winfrey Show", Mackenzie said that her siblings "definitely have a problem with this". In the show, Oprah Winfrey also read a statement from Genevieve Waite, wife of John Phillips at the time of the alleged abuse and Mackenzie's stepmother. Waite wrote in her statement that John Phillips was "incapable, no matter how drunk or drugged he was, of having such a relationship with his own child".
Mackenzie Phillips said that the sexual relationship between she and her father lasted for 10 years and ended when she became pregnant and didn't know who had fathered the child. She had an abortion, which her father paid for, and "and I never let him touch me again".
John Phillips died on March 18, 2001 in Los Angeles of heart failure at the age of 65. He was a member and leader of the singing group The Mamas & the Papas.
Mackenzie was one of Phillips' five children and first achieved fame as a teenage actress in the U.S. television show "One Day at a Time".
