Lily Allen: Launches blog against music piracy
Pop singer and songwriter Lily Allen has declared war against online music piracy launching a blog.
The 24 year old singer has set up a new blog page to collect comments from prominent supporters relating to her recently-launched campaign against illegal filesharing.
Lily Allen has recently attacked the Featured Artists Coalition (FAC) for their perceived support of filesharers and spoke out against the practice.
The singer wants comments against the people who download music without paying for it.
IFPI, an organization that represents the interests of the recording industry worldwide, said that forty billion music files were downloaded without payment in 2008, meaning 95% of all digital music was downloaded illegally.
James Blunt, supporters of Allen's blog, has backed Business Secretary Lord Mandelson's proposal to disconnect persistent offenders. He wrote, "The world over, people are stealing music in its millions in the form of illegal file-sharing. It's easy to do and has become accepted by many, but we need people to know that it is destroying people's livelihoods and suffocating emerging new British artists".
Another singer-songwriter, Gary Barlow, is agreed with Allen's sentiments. He said, "I spend so much of my spare time helping up and coming artists find their way so am fully aware of all the issues".
Natasha Khan said, "File-sharing is a huge and complicated problem for emerging artists, myself included, and for the future of music".
