Buddy Miller: Honored at 2009 Americana Music Awards
Singer, songwriter and master of music Buddy Miller was the King at the 8th Annual Americana Music Association Honors & Awards Show on Thursday night at Nashville's historic Ryman Auditorium.
Buddy Miller won awards in almost every category for which he was nominated, while veteran John Fogerty received a special honor.
The 57 year old Miller won artist of the year, album of the year for "Written in Chalk" with wife Julie Miller, duo/group of the year with his wife and song of the year for "Chalk" performed with Patty Griffin.
American rock singer, songwriter and guitarist John Fogerty was honored with a lifetime achievement award for songwriting.
Justin Townes Earle, son of Steve Earle, won new artist of the year, and multi-instrumentalist Gurf Morlix was chosen over Buddy Miller as instrumentalist of the year. Miller had won it two straight years.
Jim Lauderdale hosted the show.
