Burt Reynolds: Released from drug rehab
Hollywood actor Burt Reynolds has been discharged from a drug rehabilitation centre after receiving treatment for painkiller addiction, his manager said Wednesday.
The 73 year old actor was admitted to the Hanley Center in Florida last month to receive treatment for an addiction to painkillers that were prescribed following back surgery.
Reynolds' manager Erik Kritzer said in a statement, "After a recent back surgery, Mr. Reynolds felt like he was going through hell and after a while, realized he was a prisoner of prescription pain pills. He checked himself into rehab in order to regain control of his life. Mr. Reynolds hopes his story will help others in a similar situation. He hopes they will not try to solve the problem by themselves, but realize that sometimes it is too tough to do on their own and they should seek help, as he did".
Reynolds was one of the biggest Hollywood stars. Some of his memorable roles include Bo 'Bandit' Darville in "Smokey and the Bandit", Lewis Medlock in "Deliverance", Jack Horner in "Boogie Nights" and Paul "Wrecking" Crewe in "The Longest Yard".
Reynolds was nominated for an Oscar for playing Jack Horner in the film "Boogie Nights".
