Jude Law: Cleared over assault charge
Actor Jude Law has reportedly been freed from the charges of assualting a female photographer earlier this year.
The Crown Prosecution Service said that it will take no further action against the actor and Mr Law had no intention to assault anyone.
The 36 year old British actor was found apparently lashing out at a female paparazzi outside a London club in July.
"The Talented Mr. Ripley" actor was accused of striking Harsha Gopal on the head and slapping her face as she attempted to take his picture. But, the lawyer of the actor said that the assault claim made against him was "nonsense".
The Crown Prosecution Service issued a statement, saying, "A careful analysis of the specific evidence in this case, which included photographs and eye witness statements, indicates that Mr Law had no intention to assault anyone. While Mr Law accepted that he may have come into contact with someone whilst attempting to make his way to his car, it is highly likely that a court would decide his actions were reasonable given that his path was deliberately impeded by a crowd of photographers".
Jude Law, who was nominated for Oscar for his performance in "The Talented Mr. Ripley", is currently starring in "Hamlet" on New York's Broadway.
Law is expecting a fourth child following a relationship with US model Samantha Burke.
