 Tia Carrere: To star in 'Wave Dancer'
American actress Tia Carrere is set to star in and produce "Wave Dancer", a biopic about Rell Sunn.
Sunn was an American world surfing champion and known as "Queen of Makaha" and "Aunty Rell". She was a pioneer in the world of women's surfing and an expert diver. She was born on July 31, 1950 in Makaha, Oahu, Hawaii. After a 15-year fight against breast cancer, she died on January 2, 1998, aged 47.
The film will be directed by Martha Coolidge. Carrere and Simon Wakelin wrote the screenplay for the project.
The filmmakers plan to shoot the film early next year.
The 42 year old Carrere is best known for her role as Cassandra in the feature films "Wayne's World" and "Wayne's World 2".
