Kiefer Sutherland: To head new actors conservatory
British-born Canadian actor Kiefer Sutherland has been selected as the chair of the Canadian Film Centre's Actors Conservatory. He is the son of Canadian acting veterans Donald Sutherland and Shirley Douglas.
The name of Emmy Award and Golden Globe award-winner, best known for his portrayal of Jack Bauer on the FOX thriller drama series "24", was announced yeasterday as its first chair at the CFC barbecue during the Toronto International Film Festival.
The new Canadian actors conservatory will feature performance workshops and master classes with local and foreign actors, directors, producers and writers. It will officially launch on September 21.
After being selected, Sutherland said, "I am honored to contribute to Norman Jewison's legacy by offering the CFC my passion for storytelling, for Canada and its talent".
