Daniel Craig and Hugh Jackman open Broadway play
Daniel Craig and Hugh Jackman shared the stage on Broadway with the drama "A Steady Rain". They gave their first performance on Thursday night.
In the drama, Daniel Craig and Hugh Jackman both play Chicago police officers confronting professional and personal difficulties.
"A Steady Rain", the 90-minute play by Keith Huff, was first staged by Chicago Dramatists in 2007.
The story centres on two Chicago policemen who inadvertently return a Vietnamese boy to a cannibalistic serial killer who claims to be the child's uncle. When he later becomes the man's latest victim, the lifelong friendship of the two men is threatened when it becomes clear someone must bear responsibility for their egregious failure to assess the situation accurately.
It was Daniel Craig's Broadway debut. They both have significantly increased the star wattage of the production. They drew a standing ovation from the Manhattan's Gerald Schoenfeld Theatre audience.
Hugh Jackman has previously performed in many Broadway theatres. He won a Tony for his performance in "The Boy From Oz".
Daniel Craig and Hugh Jackman both are best-known for their big-screen roles as British secret agent James Bond and as Wolverine of the X-Men respectively.
John Crowley has directed the play.
