Garrison Keillor: Hospitalized after minor stroke
American author and humorist Garrison Keillor has suffered a minor stroke and admitted to St. Mary's Hospital at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, on Sunday night.
Karl Oestreich, spokesman for Mayo Clinic, said that Keillor was moving around, speaking sensibly and working on a laptop on Wednesday. He is expected to be released on Friday.
The 67 year old Garrison Keillor is an American author, storyteller, humorist, columnist, musician, satirist and radio personality. He is best known as the host of of the Minnesota Public Radio show "A Prairie Home Companion" and author of the book "Lake Wobegon Days".
Keillor underwent surgery to repair a heart valve at the Mayo Clinic in 2001.
Keillor said, "I am in the hands of smart and compassionate people and plan to get out on Friday and get right back to work, record a new audiobook as planned, do some lecture engagements, a book tour for 'Pilgrims' and of course the season opener at the Fitzgerald (Theater in St. Paul, Minnesota) on September 26".
A movie version of "A Prairie Home Companion" by director Robert Altman was released in 2006 and starred Marylouise Burke, Woody Harrelson, Kevin Kline, Lindsay Lohan, Meryl Streep and Lily Tomlin.
