Cate Blanchett: Suffers head injury onstage
Oscar-winning Australian actress Cate Blanchett got a head wound when a prop radio struck on the back of her head onstage during a theatre production in Sydney.
During a scene in "A Streetcar Named Desire" on Wednesday night, co-star Joel Edgerton, who was playing Stanley Kowalski, threw a radio out the window and it accidentally hit Blanchett who was playing Blanche DuBois.
Despite the mishap, the 40 year old Blanchett continued to act in the scene, but she had blood on her head and on her neck. After she disappeared into the wings, the organizers cancelled the show.
Tim McKeough, a spokesman for the Sydney Theater Company, said that the injury was minor.
McKeough also told, "I've spoken to Cate. She's absolutely fine, and we anticipate the show will go ahead tonight".
Sydney Theater Company is run by Blanchett and her playwright husband, Andrew Upton.
