Mischa Barton: Breaks silence on hospitalization
A month after being treated at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center's psychiatric department, the British-born actress Mischa Barton has opened up for the first time about her hospitalization.
The 23 year old actress told to Time Out New York, "I went through a tough spot where everything compounded on me, and it was like a perfect storm, like everything was happening to me at once".
The former "O.C." star was admitted to hospital last month, due to what the Los Angeles Police Department called "medical issues".
Mischa Barton said that her troubles started before she was scheduled to begin filming the CW series "The Beautiful Life". She was traveling abroad and had a "terrible" wisdom tooth surgery from which she is still just recovering.
Barton said, "I had to get through it without proper painkillers because I couldn't take those during work. So it's been a nightmare".
Ms. Barton continues, "I was down in the dumps about everything there for a while. Sometimes you have to hit rock bottom about things and have to get the most stressed out just to feel better again. I got completely stressed out and couldn't handle everything, and now I feel really in control".
Ms. Barton denied that it was a mental breakdown, but admitted her ordeal "was pretty bad".
