Gus van Sant: Feels 'Restless'
American film director Gus van Sant, who was nominated for Oscar for directing the films "Good Will Hunting" and "Milk", is in negotiations with the Columbia Pictures to develop and direct "Restless".
Bryce Howard will produce the project along with her father Ron Howard and his Imagine Entertainment partner Brian Grazer.
The logline for "Restless" is being kept under wraps, though it is described by the Columbia Pictures as contemporary and distinctive take on young love.
Bryce Howard attended New York University with the film's original screenwriter Jason Lew, who for the firt time wrote the screenplay there.
Howard, who have experience to act in plays with Lew, only glanced at the story and encouraged him to write it as a screenplay.
After several drafts, Bryce Howard brought it to her father. After taking with Lew's perspective and originality, Ron Howard wanted to develop it for Imagine. Lew goes on working on the screenplay with Imagine executives. After few days they ultimately showed it to Van Sant.
Columbia's Doug Belgrad and Andrea Giannetti responded to the story and swooped down on it. Giannetti will supervise for the studio, which aims to move fast on "Restless".
