Steven Tyler: Speaks out after SD accident
Aerosmith singer Steven Tyler spoke out about breaking his shoulder after falling off a concert stage last week.
Tyler said that he broke his left shoulder and needed 20 stitches on the back of his head after the August 5 accident in Sturgis, South Dakota.
In a statement, Tyler said, "I landed upside down, and after twenty stitches on the back of my head, and a broken left shoulder, I just want to say that I'm plain grateful that I didn't break my neck!"
Tyler said that thunderstorms delayed the band's set by an hour, then fuses blew and the audio systems failed shortly after the concert began.
The 61 year old singer told that the first trouble came when the sound system blew a fuse and the sound went down in the middle of the song "Love In an Elevator".
Tyler said, ""Well, I wasn't gonna go hide under the big top and play 'ROCK STAR' and wait for everything to be fixed. I wanted to go out to the crowd to continue the show".
The rocker also said that he was doing "the Tyler shuffle" when he slipped and fell off the edge of the stage.
Steven Tyler thanked his fans, police department, medical personnel and doctors and Aerosmith crew who helped him.
