Kate Walsh: To host "Live From Studio Five"
'The Apprentice' runner-up Kate Walsh is going to host a new TV show "Live From Studio Five."
Kate, who was beaten by restaurateur Yasmina Siadatan in the last series of the BBC business reality programme, will work together with ex-soccer star Ian Wright and former glamour model Melinda Messenger in the new Five show, which will be broadcast in the evenings.
"Live From Studio Five" hits screens next month. The hour- long show promies to include both news and showbiz.
"Live From Studio Five" will go head to head with The One Show, BBC1's similar early evening current affairs magazine format, over its second half hour from 7pm.
Richard Woolfe, the controller of Five said, "This is news, but not as you know it."
"It is a chatty, forthright, spirited magazine [show]. Every other broadcaster's schedule at this time is totally predictable and I believe there's a huge opportunity for a show like this which will shake things up, put Five on the map and get viewers talking about the channel."
The show will use a mix of live and recorded location reports alongside celebrity interviews and "gossip and banter" based on the day's news agenda.
Live From Studio Five's presenters will be backed by a team of Five News reporters and the Sky News team.
Kate said: "I can't wait to get stuck in to daily live TV, and the show promises to be a totally new way of reviewing the day's news."
Walsh, who is engaged to her 'The Apprentice' co-star Philip Taylor - has previously presented a segment on breakfast show 'GMTV'. |
