Barbra Streisand: Puts personal items up for auction
American singer and actress, Barbra Streisand, is putting more than 500 personal items including costumes from her movies "Funny Lady" and "The Way We Were" on the auction to benefit her charity.
Issuing a statement on Thursday, Julien's Auctions said that all proceeds from 67 year old Streisand's auction would benefit the Streisand Foundation that she set up in 1986 to help preserve the environment, civil rights, and women's issues.
Barbra Streisand, who won two Academy Awards, nine Grammy Awards, four Emmy Awards and a Special Tony Award, said, "What good does it do in storage? Let someone else enjoy it. These things, they're not forever. We pass them on and reap the benefits for something important".
A full public exhibition of the items will take place at The Beverly Hilton hotel from October 10-16 and the two-day auction will be held on October 17 and 18.
The items which will be sold on auction include her pink robe from the 1973 movie "The Way We Were", outfits from the 2004 film "Meet The Fockers" and stage-worn gowns from her 1994 and 2000 tours.
Barbra Streisand and Columbia Records will release her newest studio album, "Love is the Answer", on September 29, 2009. The album is produced by Diana Krall.
Streisand will also perform to an audience of 100 at New York's Village Vanguard jazz club on September 26.
