Hugh Jackman: Will star in a movie musical
In addition to his plenty of success in recent years, Hugh Jackman is going to star in Barnum Biopic.
After the Australian actor has showed the world his song-and-dance prowess as host of the Oscars, he gets his wish to star in a movie musical- he is going to play showman P.T. Barnum in the upcoming film- "The Greatest Showman on Earth."
Barnum was the premier innovator of circus performance and was one of the most famous entrepreneurs of the 19th century.
20th Century Fox has not yet set a date to begin filming the biopic, nor the studio has scheduled a release for the film.
In April, the actor mentioned that he wanted to star in a movie musical, a genre that hit its peak in 1930s Hollywood and has surfaced only sporadically in recent years' movies like "Hairspray" and "Mamma Mia!"
While he is best known for playing superhero Wolverine in the "X-Men" movies, Jackman starred in a 1999 television movie version of the stage musical "Oklahoma!"
jackman won a Tony, Broadway's highest honor, in 2004 for his role in musical "The Boy from Oz." His turn hosting the Tony Awards helped convince Oscar organizers to hire him as host of Oscar's in February.
It is claimed that Anne Hathaway is being considered as a co-star in the film and it is speculated that the two would make a good pair as they worked together on a musical number for the Oscar's. |
