Michael Jackson: Maintains albums chart supremacy
Michael Jackson is still reigning over the British albums chart. His popularity with British music buyers shows no signs of going down.
Since his death in June, the King of Pop has topped the album chart with "Essential" and hits package "Number Ones" occupying the top spot for the last six weeks as fans snap up copies of his back catalogue.
"The Essential" is also the best-selling album of the year so far.
Florence and the Machine's album "Lungs" held steady at two, while U.S. hip hop group the Black Eyed Peas moved up to third with "The End".
Lady Gaga's "The Fame" moved down to six from third spot.
The only new entry in the album chart came from Scandinavian band A-ha, who debut at five with "Foot On The Mountain".
"Sunny Side Up" by Scottish singer songwriter Paolo Nutini remained in fourth.
In the UK singles chart, the Black Eyed Peas has topped the chart with their "I Gotta Feeling", knocking last week's top track "Beat Again" by JLS down to number two.
Mr Hudson, featuring Kanye West, dropped a place to third with "Supernova".
