Wes Anderson: 'Mr. Fox' to open London Film Festival
Fantastic Mr. Fox will open the London Film Festival this year, organizers announced on Monday. "Fantastic Mr. Fox" is a stop-motion animated film which is directed by Wes Anderson.
The story of the film is based on Roald Dahl's children's book about a community of burrowing animals who battle a trio of evil farmers. Anderson's modeled characters will be voiced by Michael Gambon, Meryl Streep, George Clooney, Bill Murray, Owen Wilson, Jason Schwartzman, Wes Anderson and many others.
The film has been the longstanding project of the director and writer, Wes Anderson, who read the book as a child in Texas. Anderson always considers Dahl one of his heroes.
Wes Anderson was nominated for a 2001 Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay for "The Royal Tenenbaums".
Anderson said on Monday that he was happy the movie was making its debut in Britain. It was shot at London's Three Mills Studios and features several British actors.
The 53rd London Film Festival, backed by the British Film Institute, will run from October 14 to 29.
"Fantastic Mr. Fox" will be released in Britain on October 23 and in the U.S. on November 13.
