Roger Federer: Wife gives birth to twin girls
Six-time Wimbledon champion Roger Federer said on Friday that he has become a proud father of twin girls. His wife Mirka has given birth to twin girls on July 23, 2009.
The 27 year old Swiss professional tennis player has named the girls Myla Rose and Charlene Riva.
The twins are first children born to the couple, who were married in April.
Federer, who regained the top ranking from Andy Roddick after winning a record 15th Grand Slam at Wimbledon, said on his website, "This is the greatest day of our lives. Mirka, Myla and Charlene are all healthy and doing very well".
Roger Federer met former Women's Tennis Association player Miroslava "Mirka" Vavrinec in 2000 when they were competing for Switzerland in the Sydney Olympic Games. Mirka retired in 2002 because of a persistent foot injury and has since been working as Federer's public relations manager.
Federer got married to Mirka in Basel on 11 April 2009.
