'Harry Potter' debuts at top of US box office
The latest "Harry Potter" film set a new box office record worldwide for its opening week.
"Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince", the sixth instalment in the boy wizard series, has topped the weekend box office after earning $79.47 million.
According to studio estimates, "Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs" retained the second spot with $17.7 million.
Megan Fox's "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen" also retained the third spot with $13.75 million.
Comedy film "Bruno", which is banned in Ukraine for nudity and gay sex, came in fourth place with $8.37 million, 73 percent drop from its No. 1 opening last weekend. Total domestic sales for "Bruno" are about $50 million.
"The Hangover" rounded off the top five with 8.3 million dollars.
