Carla Bruni: To sing for Mandela
Carla Bruni-Sarokzy will sing at a concert here to mark Nelson Mandela's 91st birthday. This will be her first public show since marrying French President Nicolas Sarkozy.
Model-turned-musician, Carla Bruni, will lead a glittering line-up of stars at a concert, which will be held at Radio City Music Hall in Madison Square Garden.
Mr. Mandela will turn 91 on July 18.
Singers like Stevie Wonder and soul queen Aretha Franklin will also perform at the concert.
The event will be wrapped up after a week of celebrations for the 91st birthday of the first black President of South Africa.
In a statement, the organizers said, "Mr Mandela is an iconic statesman whose sacrifice and leadership has had an enormous impact on humanity".
Other stars, who will take part on Saturday, are Matt Damon, Hollywood stars Forest Whitaker and Susan Sarandon.
The organizers have arranged this concert to raise funds for Campaign 46664, named after Mandela's former prisoner number when he was jailed for 27 years.
