Farrah Fawcett: Friend to publish diary
Alana Stewart, a close friend of late Farrah Fawcett is planning to publish a diary about the actress' three-year struggle with cancer.
"My Journey with Farrah: A Story of Life, Love and Friendship," by Alana Stewart, will be published in August by William Morrow, a unit of HarperCollins which is owned by News Corp.
Some of the profits raised from sales of the book will be donated to the Farrah Fawcett Foundation for cancer research.
The 64 year old Alana Stewart, a friend of Fawcett's for 30 years, said that she was encouraged to publish the book by Fawcett herself and by Ryan O'Neal.
In a statement, Stewart said, "Farrah had originally encouraged me to write this book. It was her idea. However, while I was contemplating my decision, her health took a turn for the worse, and I could no longer seek her advice. So I turned to Ryan O'Neal. He was so positive and so supportive. 'You have to do it', he said emphatically. 'There will be lots of people writing books about her. Yours will be the truth and it will be a wonderful tribute to her. You have to do it!'"
Farrah Fawcett, the star of "Charlie's Angels", died on June 25 at the age of 62. Alana Stewart, an actress and former wife of rock star Rod Stewart, has appeared in films like "Swing Shift" and "Funny Lady".
