Mira Sorvino: Welcomes 'miracle' baby in family
After a long hospitalization and several complications, Mira Sorvino and her husband, Christopher Backus, welcomed a healthy son namely Holden Paul Terry Backus in their family on 22nd June.
However, the birth was not without serious health scares, as the "Mighty Aphrodite" star Sorvino was advised complete bed rest after experiencing placenta previa and other complications.
"I developed a blood clot (DVT) due to all the inactivity and had to be anti-coagulated for months to prevent a pulmonary embolism." Forty one year old Sorvino told this to the reporters of a popular news magazine.
Although the "Romy and Michelle" actress was extremely excited for the birth of her third child, stress was high on the day of delivery.
She further added, "During the day we had some scary difficulties with the epidural, as I achieved almost no progress with the labor and then at night the placenta created problems again”.
After a successful c-section, Sorvino could finally enjoy the pleasures of having a new baby in the home and she notes that her other sons - Mattea and Johnny - are having no problems getting comfortable with their new brother.
She told the news magazine, "They make up songs to sing to him!" "My only challenge has been convincing them not to touch him and pet him while he's sleeping, because they wake him up!"
In spite of the health complications that came with delivering her third child, Mira Sorvino said that when she held Holden for the first time, it all went away.
She continued, "As soon as they placed him in my arms I knew it had all been worth it," "He is my miracle baby. With everything that threatened this pregnancy and both of our lives, he came out of it completely unscathed: perfectly healthy, beautiful and wonderful!" |
