Jodie Foster and Mel Gibson to join "The Beaver"
Jodie Foster and Mel Gibson are in negotiations to join the indie comedy "The Beaver".
Jodie Foster, who last directed "Home for the Holidays" in 1995, is in talks to direct and co-star in the comedy drama and Mel Gibson is in talks to play the lead role.
The story written by Kyle Killen centres on a guy walks around with a puppet of a beaver on his hand and treats it like a living creature.
Anonymous Content, the company that is developing the project, is eager to make the movie this year.
The presence of Foster and Gibson together in the film would mark a reunion for the duo. Both of them have starred as a desperate poker player and his canny adversary in "Maverick" in 1994.
Foster made her directorial debut in 1991 with "Little Man Tate", a critically acclaimed drama about a child prodigy, in which she also co-starred as the child's mother. She also directed "Home for the Holidays" in 1995.
