Kate Gosselin: To attend California women's forum

Kate Gosselin, the star of hit reality series "Jon & Kate Plus 8", have been invited by Maria Shriver to attend the Annual Women's Conference, which has always been an A-list affair.

Cindy McCain, Elizabeth Edwards, Katie Couric, former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright and actress Kelly Preston are also among the invitees who will take part at the conference.

Maria Shriver, the wife of Arnold Schwarzenegger, said that she invited Gosselin at the suggestion of her teenage daughters who watch her show.

The invitation was sent five months ago. That was before Gosselin announced that she and her husband were splitting after 10 years of marriage.

California's first lady described Gosselin as "a real interesting girl" who is facing the challenge of raising eight children and coping with "a lost marriage".

Shriver's conference has become an annual showcase of women's issues and success stories.

Maria Shriver will host the conference on October 26-27 in Long Beach.
