Kelly Preston: Plans to open up about loss of son
Actress Kelly Preston is expected to open up publicly about the loss of son Jett Travolta for the first time at a Women's conference sometime during this fall.
Preston, whose sixteen year old son died while the Travolta family went on vacation in the Bahamas over New Year's, will speak about her loss during the "Grief & Resilience" panel at the California Governor's Conference for Women, in late October.
"If she can empower one other woman who feels like they can't get out of bed, or get through the day, whatever the loss, it'll be worthwhile sharing her story." Maria Shriver who is going to host the conference has told this to the reporters of a popular news magazine.
Preston, the wife of John Travolta, will be joined on the panel by John Edward's wife Elizabeth and actress Susan St. James. Both the women have lost sons too.
"Their goal is, 'If I can help one other woman through this then it will be worth it.'" Shriver, the wife of California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger added this.
Kate Gosselin, from TLC's "Jon & Kate Plus 8" will also speak for fifteen minutes at the conference. She was invited to speak at the event prior to beginning divorce procedures against her husband of ten years, Jon Gosselin.
Shriver told a popular news agency about the reality TV mom. She said, "I think her life has certainly changed dramatically, but so be it," "I think that's the beauty of this conference -- to have Madeleine Albright and Kate Gosselin at the same place."
In fact, in addition to the former Secretary of State, Katie Couric and Cindy McCain will also speak at the event.
The conference runs from 26 to 27 October in Long Beach. |
