 Phil Mickelson: Mother diagnosed with breast cancer
American professional golfer Phil Mickelson, who won three major golf championships and a total of 36 events on the PGA Tour, has to deal with another breast cancer battle in his family.
On May 20, 2009, it was announced that Mickelson's wife, Amy, was diagnosed with breast cancer. Now, it was announced on July 6, 2009 that his mother also has breast cancer and will have surgery at the same hospital that his wife had hers.
Phil Mickelson's sister, Tina Mickelson, told on Monday that her mother was diagnosed a week ago with cancer and will undergo surgery on Friday at the MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston.
A source said that Amy has also underwent a surgery at the same hospital on Wednesday.
The 39 year old golfer who shared second place in last month's US Open, has taken a leave from the US PGA Tour to help support his wife and family.
