Winners of 2009 BET Awards

BET Awards 2009 ceremony held on Sunday by saluting Michael Jackson, who shocked the world with his sudden death on June 25.

Beyonce Knowles led its winners list with two nods. She grabbed a trophy for Best Female R&B Artist and another for Video of the Year. In Best Female R&B Artist category, she beat Jennifer Hudson, Keri Hilson, Keyshia Cole and Jazmine Sullivan.

Though American singer Keri Hilson lost Best Female R&B Artist, she managed to grabb the award for Best New Artist.

Among other musicians, Lil Wayne, M.I.A., Ne-Yo and DAY26 walked home with an award in their pockets.

When Will Smith won the award for Best Actor, Taraji P. Henson won an award for Best Actress.

In Best Athlete category, LeBron James won Best Male Athlete and tennis player Serena Williams won Best Female Athlete.

10) Video Director of the Year: Benny Boom

11) Centric Award: Jazmine Sullivan

12) Best Gospel Artist: Mary Mary

13) Best Actor: Will Smith

14) Best Actress: Taraji P. Henson

15) Best Male Athlete: LeBron James

16) Best Female Athlete: Serena Williams

17) Humanitarian Award: Alicia Keys and Wyclef Jean

18) Lifetime Achievement Award: The O'Jays
